Personnel
CEDS Head of Research David Hitchcock
has overall responsibility for the work of CEDS but is also actively
involved in projects as an experienced ergonomist.
Sue Swain, our Operations Manager takes care of the administrative
side of our work, and is usually the first port of call for enquiries.
Importantly Sue maintains close client liaison for all of our
projects.
CEDS uses a mix of full-time, part-time
and associate researchers comprising of ergonomists, psychologists,
engineers, social scientists, graphic designers, internet
specialists, statisticians, knowledge-base systems developers
and vocational guidance advisors. CEDS is also able to offer
telephone helpline/support services to manage and disseminate
the findings of our research. CEDS’ personnel
have experience of conducting research work both within laboratories
and at site visits with both selected participants and members
of the general public.

CEDS works closely with researchers at the universities of Aston,
Birmingham, Loughborough and Sheffield. In addition to specialist
personnel this also provides comprehensive literature search,
test and laboratory facilities.
We have access to subjects throughout the UK through two subject
and participant databases; CEDS’ own national database
of approximately 1,500 disabled people and a second regional
database which we manage for the Department for Work and Pensions’ Psychology
Division.
